A series of seductive text drawings each derived from his unique systematic approach. The drawings on paper are made from traditional ’Äòanalog’Äô mediums such as graphite and ink but are applied with the aid of a computer and a customized mechanical plotter. This body of work presents a multi-faceted exploration of authorship and dialogue in the information age while confronting the issues of brevity, clarity and meaning(lessness). Downloading the texts of major literary works, self-help books, text books or compilations of song lyrics, Prybolsky summarizes each using a software program, thus leaving to chance the content which eventually becomes the essence of the drawing.¬Ý The artist utilizes either an automated summary which extracts 1% of the original text or a concordance which determines the most frequent words or adjectives. Prybolsky sets up his system that is first dictated by the computer and later executed by a machine, leaving the results predictably out of his control. This conceptual approach to drawing allows the artist to focus on the arrangement of text and choice of materials, invariably leading each piece to a unique and utterly unrepeatable image.
